What are the responsibilities and job description for the PACE Transportation Manager position at MorseLife Health System?
The Transportation Manager is responsible for implementing the PACE transportation program. The Transportation Manager develops pickup and delivery routes, schedules and supervises all drivers, and assists in developing transportation policies and procedures.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
· Coordinates and oversees all transportation provided by Palm Beach PACE.
· Serves as a member of the IDT.
· Assures PACE Participant Rights are respected throughout the Transportation Program and directs investigations to verify and resolve Participant/Family grievances regarding transportation services.
· Collaborates with other PACE managers and staff members to formulate and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives for the Transportation Program.
· Interviews and recommends Driver candidates for hire.
· Plans, organizes and manages the work of subordinate staff to ensure that the work is accomplished in a manner consistent with organizational requirements and state and federal regulations.
· Plans and coordinates all scheduling activities related to transportation for PACE participants including, but not limited to physician appointments and field trips.
· Conducts safety meetings in order to assure that all drivers are properly trained in safety measures and maintains and monitors driver training records for conformance to Transportation Manual requirements and competencies.
· Develops van/bus specifications for bids for vehicles.
· Plans, implements and supervises all vehicle maintenance and reviews and verifies all invoices for services provided by outside contractors.
· Maintains the Palm Beach PACE Transportation Manual and recommends changes to Program Director so the Manual remains current.
· Regularly monitors the National PACE Association internet list serve to stay current on new developments and improvements in transporting PACE participants.
· Monitors transportation spending to ensure expenses are consistent with approved budgets.
· Serves as backup vehicle driver as required.
· Coordinates the activities of any outside providers (contractors) who may deliver incidental transportation services to Participants (such as emergency taxi).
· Assures that all necessary program records are maintained according to policy.
· Completes all other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Previous commercial or passenger driving experience required.
- Supervisory experience required.
- A minimum of one year experience working with the frail elderly population required. Knowledge of U.S. Department of Transportation regulations and safety procedure requirements required.
- Experience in developing and delivering DOT safety training to passenger drivers highly preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid Florida Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
