Contract duration: 12 months
Location: On site in Houston, TX.
Hours: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM- Monday- Friday
Pay rate: $80.00- $100.00 per hour/ W2/ No benefits.
We are recruiting a Network Engineer to join our client in Houston, TX on an initial 12-month contract.
This is a great opportunity to join a large Engineering, Oil & Gas company. You will contribute to the daily operations, maintenance, and improvement of the organization's network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, WLAN, and Business Internet, as well as voice communication systems.
You will also support ongoing enhancement efforts for existing solutions and assist in implementing new ones. You will act an escalation point for help desk and desktop support teams when needed and provide assistance with IT infrastructure projects.
Please note, for this contract you will require a TWIC- Transportation Worker Identification Card.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure maximum availability of network infrastructure to support critical business functions.
- Deliver exceptional customer service and technical support.
- Provide both operational and project-based assistance to meet IT and organizational objectives.
- Monitor and maintain the corporate network, including switches, routers, and wireless access points.
- Manage and support corporate firewalls and enterprise Network Access Control (NAC) solutions.
- Maintain and enhance network monitoring tools.
- Support infrastructure modifications during and outside of business hours as required.
- Assist with audio-visual and collaboration technologies, such as CUCM, Webex, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network-related issues promptly.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to implement projects on schedule.
- Adhere to established IT policies and procedures.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Skills/ experience required include:
- Associate degree in Computer or Electronics related field of study preferred
- At least 3 years of experience in supporting computer and network systems.
- Network certification (e.g., CCNA, JNCIA, or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of WAN technologies (e.g., T-1, Metro Ethernet, MPLS, microwave).
- Proficiency in networking protocols, IP subnetting, and routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, EIGRP, IS-IS, BGP).
- Familiarity with network operating systems (e.g., IOS, NX-OS, FTD, JunOS, PanOS).
- Hands-on experience configuring and supporting switches, routers, wireless APs, firewalls, and network security devices (e.g., VPN, IPS, Web/URL filtering).
- Knowledge of cloud-based IaaS platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Experience with network monitoring and logging tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG, Splunk, Nagios, Elastic, Graylog).
- Familiarity with server operating systems (e.g., Windows Server, Linux, Unix).
- Excellent documentation, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
- Strong customer orientation with a passion for creating excellent user experiences.
- Ability to adapt to new technologies and techniques quickly.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, both written and verbal.
- Self-motivated team player who works well independently and seeks team input to deliver optimal solutions.
- Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
