Commissioning Manager II
SUMMARY
Mortenson is currently seeking a Commissioning Manager that will drive, and lead activities related to project construction and contract administration with a focus on successful commissioning. Actively engaged in the project delivery of larger and more complex assignments. Plan and conduct work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of commissioning techniques, procedures, and criteria.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform scope of work technical reviews to provide detailed comments and recommendations for revisions
- Develop commissioning specifications for collection and control systems across multiple disciplines
- Create commissioning plans, checklists, and tests for collection and control systems
- Provide technical guidance while leading field visits and observing commissioning inspections and tests
- Provide direction to others regarding functional performance test in the field, including creation of project's commissioning plan and schedule
- Draft technical documents for issue resolutions, lessons learned and best practices
- Conduct training and educational sessions on topics within your discipline
- Effectively communicate across disciplines regarding construction coordination and issue resolution
- Work with contractors, in the field, to resolve commissioning issues observed during testing
- Provide support in collaborations with the scope team and Project Manager to verify the scope intent and scope criteria to be used for commissioning
- Write issue descriptions, meeting minutes, field reports and final reports
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships to support problem solving and project execution
- Effectively lead internal meetings
- Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
- Lead team members by example, offer effective coaching and feedback, and effectively manage performance
- Lead planning and execution of system tests, including but not limited to NETA, SCADA, controls, and operations verification of mechanical, electrical, fire protection and life safety systems
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural, Mechanical, and/or Electrical Engineering or 10 years of equivalent field experience
- Minimum seven years construction management or commissioning experience, preferably with a MEP Contractor, or Commissioning firm
- Conceptual knowledge of key construction documents and their relationship to construction Project Management and Field Executions
- Excellent communication and client relationship skills
- Expert understanding of how design, construction, start-up, commissioning, and turnover align within the project delivery process
- Experience with key construction documents and their relationship to Quality Control/Quality Assurance (QA/QC)
- Understanding of Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) and interaction testing and turnover requirements.
- Understanding of applicable design codes, design standards and specification requirements, and ability to interpret them Proficiency of the commissioning process, L0-L5
- Concisely relate the construction deliverable to the commissioning deliverable
- Microsoft Office, project, and pertinent web application skills at an intermediate level
- Strong understanding of data-based commissioning tools such as BIM360
- General understanding of building systems across disciplines and fundamental knowledge in at least one discipline such as HVAC, plumbing/piping, electrical, lighting, instrumentation, and controls, or building envelope systems
- Strong ability to work well in a team environment, including carrying out appropriate follow-through with others and giving and receiving constructive feedback
- Ability to communicate with individuals at all levels in the organization and project partners
- Ability to anticipate project work, appropriately delegate workload and balance workload within a team
- Demonstrated ability in evaluating risk, schedule impact and safety for quality and commissioning related activities.
- Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills
- Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies
- Ability to fulfill development to closeout responsibilities for complex projects
- Proven positive and professional attitude and customer service skills
- Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback

The base pay range for this role is $140,800 - $211,200. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%).
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.
