SUMMARY
Mortenson is currently seeking a Learning and Development Manager responsible for building and implementing capability build strategies and learning solutions to support the success of Mortenson's business imperatives through various training programs. Oversee complete analysis of learning needs, training operations and learning experience development, and effectiveness, efficiency, and engagement methodologies.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Capability Strategy Development:
- Design and lead a comprehensive capability build strategy for priority talent populations, ensuring alignment with business objectives and industry best practices.
- Identify critical skills, behaviors, and competencies required for success in current and future roles.
- Develop role-specific learning roadmaps, in alignment with career pathways to support professional growth and organizational needs.
Learning Solutions Portfolio & Design:
- Set the vision and direction for skill-based learning solutions, ensuring alignment with Mortenson's talent goals and long-term business objectives.
- Design and own the measurement strategy for learning programs, including defining key performance indicators (KPIs) and utilizing data to evaluate the effectiveness and ROI of capability-building initiatives for priority talent populations.
- Develop and maintain a forecasting strategy for learner demand, facilitator capacity, and program resource allocation to ensure timely and efficient delivery of learning solutions.
- Provide strategic oversight to ensure innovative approaches are aligned with organizational priorities and deliver measurable outcomes.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Collaborate with Mortenson leaders, HR, and Talent Development teams to align learning initiatives with Mortenson's business priorities.
- Engage with senior leaders and advisory committees, including the Director of Leadership Development, Director of Learning, Senior Manager of Talent, and others, to shape and gain alignment on strategic priorities for capability building.
- Facilitate strategic workshops, focus groups, and discussions with cross-functional stakeholders to gather input, test ideas, and build consensus on learning strategies.
Program Management and Execution:
- Guide the overall direction of learning initiatives by leading needs assessment, defining program objectives, and shaping the measurement strategy, while partnering with the program team execute the program design, implementation, and operational delivery.
- Ensure timely delivery of programs within budget and scope, adapting as needed to meet evolving business needs.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay ahead of industry trends, workforce challenges, and emerging technologies in operations and talent development.
- Continuously refine and innovate learning strategies to drive measurable improvements in
- workforce capability and performance.
- Benchmark against competitors and adopt best practices to maintain a leading-edge learning strategy
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, Learning & Development, Organizational Development, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 8 years of experience in strategic talent development, learning and development, or organizational capability building.
- Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and working with executive stakeholders to shape and deliver high-impact talent strategies.
- Strong background in designing and implementing measurement strategies for learning program effectiveness and ROI.
- Familiarity with forecasting tools and strategies for learner demand, facilitator capacity, and resource allocation.
- Experience leveraging modern learning technologies and platforms (e.g., LMS, LXP, e-learning tools, data analytics platforms) to drive innovation and scale.
- Exceptional ability to align learning strategies with organizational priorities and business outcomes.
- Expertise in workforce planning and capability-building for current and future roles.
- Strong project management skills, including planning, execution, and evaluation of learning programs.
- Proficiency in applying innovative learning methodologies, such as microlearning, simulations, and coaching, to create engaging and effective solutions.
- Ability to anticipate trends in workforce development and adapt strategies to meet evolving needs.
- Experience partnering with Program Managers and other execution-focused roles to ensure the seamless design and implementation of initiatives.
- Master's degree in a relevant field, with a focus on organizational strategy, talent development, or adult learning principles.
- Certifications in talent development or workforce learning (e.g., ATD, SHRM-SCP, CPLP) are a plus.

The base pay range for this role is $97,100 - $145,700. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%).
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.
