Job Overview
As a Project Manager at Mortenson, you will lead teams of professionals in delivering complex construction projects. You will be responsible for managing the overall direction and leadership on Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) dominant projects or MEP scopes of work on medium to large projects.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain project financial projections and equipment projections.
- Determine and allocate project estimates into financial systems.
- Determine cost codes, approve invoices, and make necessary budget management decisions.
- Provide financials and billings to Accounting for timely payment.
- Create monthly owner billings.
Leadership Responsibilities
You will oversee budgeting for and selecting trade partners and suppliers, handle billings and contract management, including contract buyouts. You will also direct and manage the commissioning process on the project, inclusive of the start-up plan, COT, commissioning schedule, and functional testing.
- Provide job assignments and manage career development for Assistant Project Managers and Project Engineers.
- Approve time cards for on-site team members.
- Provide ongoing feedback on work performance.
Interactions with Stakeholders
You will function as the main point of contact with the owner and on-site representative, assist with the review of the owner agreement, and resolve site concerns for the owner or representative.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural, Mechanical, and/or Electrical Engineering or equivalent field experience.
- Minimum six years of construction management experience, preferably experience with a Mechanical or Electrical Contractor.
- Ability to fulfill development-to-closeout responsibilities for complex projects.
- Detail orientation sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasks.
- Basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices.
- Microsoft Office and project pertinent web application skills at an intermediate level.
- Positive and professional attitude, and strong customer service skills.
- Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies.
- Active listening skills and effective communication, including an openness to diverse input and feedback.
- Ability to travel up to 100%.
