Responsible for marking, positioning, and securing structural steel members to reinforce concrete or building structures.
Responsibilities
- Setting up, flagging, and inspecting a crane
- Inspecting rigging properly
- Running a site level
- Checking-in truck deliveries against bill of lading when load arrives
- Counting bars and bundles of rebar, dobies, and wire mesh
- Directing forklift/crane to unload delivery truck
- Shaking out rebar and distributing/organizing accordingly
- Using pliers to tie rebar intersections with tie wire
- Splicing mats or rebar sections together with short rebar dowels
- Understanding building codes/requirements
- Cutting excess rebar ends and miscellaneous pieces with gas cut saw or cutting torch
- Installing mechanical rebar splices by bolting or welding ends together
- Installing caps on vertical rebar dowels for safety
- Installing rebar dowels into fresh concrete footings
- Determining number, size, shape, and location of reinforcing rods from blueprints, sketches, or oral instructions
- Bending steel rods with hand tools or rodbending machine
- Reinforcing concrete with wire mesh
- Ornamental Ironworker: Installing prefabricated ornamental ironwork
- All other duties as assigned
- Renewable Energy Group Accountabilities:
- Receiving and offloading all major components
- Installing loose components for Nacelle, hub, and tower preparation
- Connecting blades to hub
- Setting base and tower sections
- Managing taglines
- Involved with main erection crane assembly and teardown
- Climbing ladders – average 80m
- Cooperate with others when in a team environment

- Knowledge of equipment and their uses
- Understand and apply basic mathematical skills (adding, subtracting, division, & multiplication)

- High School Diploma or GED
- Equipment certifications as required
- 1 year of related experience preferred
- Must possess valid driver’s license of proper class and necessary endorsements as required by law
- Must have passed the Apprentice Aptitude Test
