Job Summary:
Provides counseling services to assist patients in overcoming substance use and abuse problems. Counseling may be provided as stand-alone therapy or in combination with therapy in group settings. Responsible for developing and monitoring the patient’s individualized treatment plan progress throughout the course of treatment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Leads individual and group counseling sessions.
- Enlists the principles and processes of active listening while assessing the ability, personality, and behavioral and affective disorders of the patient.
- Understands and utilizes the knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation to assess and assist patients with chemical dependency.
- Works closely with staff Psychiatrist when developing and monitoring individual treatment plans and care coordination.
- Provides counseling therapy to patients as appropriate to their individual need.
- Consistently maintains a patient panel capacity of greater than 90%.
- Participates in professional development activities to improve knowledge and skills in current treatment concepts and methods as required by the State of Oklahoma to maintain licensure.
Job Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in related health field required.
- Two (2) or more years’ experience in mental health services counseling with an interest in dependency counseling.
- Must pass a State of Oklahoma Background Check
- Current BLA/CPR certification.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a professional team.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with staff and the public.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Required to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
This position has been deemed a” Safety-Sensitive” position; therefore, Morton reserves the right to refuse to hire an applicant or may terminate an employee in a “Safety-Sensitive Position” who tests positive for medical marijuana even if he/she has a valid medical marijuana license.

Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in a clinic environment
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 15 pounds; and occasionally up to 25 pounds
- Must be able to sit, and stand for extended periods of time.
- Possess the ability to bend, lift, and climb stairs.
- Work may involve some exposures to operating circumstances that require following standard or prescribed safety precautions.
