Job Summary
The Assistant General Manager (AGM) is responsible for the strategic and operational management of the Fairless Hills Site promoting close collaboration between the Maintenance, Engineering, Production, and Health & Safety departments. The AGM also oversees medium- and long-term strategic planning to optimize the performance of the mine’s overall activities. The position involves developing and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure the achievement of organizational objectives in terms of safety, quality, productivity, costs, and sustainability.
Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Planning and Maintenance Management:
- Supervise and coordinate the overall site responsibilities to ensure optimal availability of equipment and facilities.
- Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance strategies to maximize equipment reliability.
- Participate in the preparation and monitoring of budgets related to site projects (Opex) and capital investment projects (Capex), taking full responsibility, with the team, for assigned projects, including design, planning, and execution.
Continuous Improvement and Performance Management:
- Develop, monitor, and analyze KPIs to evaluate and improve the performance of maintenance, production, and engineering activities.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity and reduce costs.
- Ensure the application of industry best practices in maintenance and mining operations.
Interdepartmental Cohesion and Collaboration:
- Foster proactive collaboration between Engineering, Production, and Health & Safety departments to ensure operational alignment.
- Actively participate in management committees and interdepartmental meetings to align strategic objectives.
Quality, Health, Safety, and Compliance:
- Ensure the strict application of Quality, health and safety standards and compliance with environmental regulations.
- Oversee the training and awareness efforts of teams regarding risk prevention.
- Ensure adherence to internal policies and applicable regulations.
Leadership and Team Management:
- Support talent development within the site and other related departments.
- Ensure transparent and motivating communication with employees.
- Actively participate in recruiting, training, and evaluating employees under supervision.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in an industrial environment, including at least 5 years in a management role.
- Experience in industrial maintenance and interdepartmental management.
- Strong ability to strategically plan and manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication skills and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
- Demonstrated leadership and ability to motivate diverse teams.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to solve complex problems.
- Proficiency with computer tools, including Microsoft Office and maintenance management software (SAP or equivalent).
- Advanced English (spoken and written) required.
- Functional Spanish (spoken and written) preferred.
