Job Summary
Morton Salt is looking for a food safety, quality & regulatory (FSQR) Intern to help in the quality operation of our Hutchinson, KS evaporation production facility. This is a good opportunity for a future scientist to apply the knowledge gained from science classes to industrial problems and gain industrial experience.
Duties and Responsibliities
- Learn and conduct daily testing on finished products.
- Participate in regular operations meetings to gain experience in day-to-day management needs and quality expectations.
- Assist plant quality in executing specific projects, work with team to improve quality operations throughout the plant.
- Own small project from planning to implementation that encompasses quality continuous improvement driven at the corporate level to support all sites.
- Analyze and interpret data from quality evaluations and other quality assessments.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams, including FSQR, production, R&D, and sales and marketing to understand how the business functions bring products to our customers.
- Maintain detailed records of project data and results, prepare reports and presentations as needed.
- Participate in plant quality inspections.
- Analyzing operational data and processes for improvement opportunities
Knowledge, Skills and Abillities
- Rising junior or senior currently pursuing a degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Familiarity with quality and food safety processes and principles.
- Basic laboratory skills and experience with common chemistry methods.
- Ability to work independently in managing the tasks as assigned
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office applications.
