                                                                          Job Description: Human Resources Generalist


The Human Resources Generalist supports daily HR functions, including recruitment, payroll, benefits administration, compliance, training, and development. This role is key in maintaining company policies and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The HR Generalist collaborates with Managers across departments and assists the HR Director in optimizing the HR department’s operations

Duties/Responsibilities:


  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings
  • Assists with the onboarding process, recruitment, and contract administration for independent contractors
  • Conducts background and reference checks and employee eligibility verifications
  • Serves as the first point of contact for employee inquiries related to HR policies, benefits, and general HR matters and escalates complex issues to the HR Director
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws for multistate compliance.
  • Assists the HR Director in maintaining and updating the Employee Handbook and HR policies as needed 
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs, including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development
  • Reconcile benefit liability accounts, health insurance, HSA, 401k, dental, supplemental insurance within our HRIS and Accounting systems
  • Processes biweekly payroll, ensuring timely and accurate submission for all employees
  • Processes biweekly payments to contractors on an as-needed basis
  • Acts as a liaison between employees and benefits providers (medical, dental, vision, supplemental, EAP, disability,  retirement plan)
  • Maintains accurate HR files and records for employees and contractors
  • Assists with the planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, employee recognition events, etc.
  • Assists the HR Director with the implementation of training and development and performance management programs
  • Assists the HR Director with the overall management of the HRIS system
  • Handles employee disputes, disciplinary matters, terminations, and investigations in conjunction with the HR Director
  • Provides general administrative support to the HR Director as needed


Other Duties: 

  • Serves on the HR Working Group during special projects as needed
  • Maintains a comprehensive understanding of MOSA’s policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Manual and MOSA’s Mission, Vision, and Values
  • Attends HR-related meetings, training sessions, and ongoing professional development activities
  • Undertakes any other tasks and responsibilities as required by the HR Director

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Minimum education or training: Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
  • Three or more years of experience as an HR Generalist or similar HR position, ideally in a small to mid-sized organization
  • Thorough knowledge of employment laws, compliance, and regulations, including Multi-State compliance 
  • Previous experience with FMLA administration 
  • Previous experience with Paid Family Leave programs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Experience with Accounting software (specific experience with Quickbooks online is ideal)
  • Experience with payroll processing and HRIS systems (specific experience with BambooHR is a plus)

  • Ability to spend long periods of time working on a computer

Salary : $58,600 - $65,100
