POSTED ON 2/22/2025
AVAILABLE BEFORE 3/21/2025
Mosaic Biosciences is a discovery and preclinical development company that partners with biopharmaceutical companies to discover novel protein and antibody therapeutics. Our experienced and dedicated research teams collaborate with our partners to design, manage, and execute research programs to rapidly advance clinical candidates, starting at any point from early discovery into preclinical development. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Business Development to drive our business growth through commercial development and sales team management.

Position Overview:

We are hiring a full-time Scientist II/ Senior Scientist to join Mosaic’s Cell-Based Assay Team in Boulder, Colorado. The successful candidate will lead and execute custom functional assay development across diverse therapeutic areas, with a focus on immune cell-based assays, flow cytometry, and complex cellular models. This role requires deep technical expertise in cell biology and the ability to drive programs through assay development, validation, and execution.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with FACS-based analysis, immune cell functional assays, and stable cell line generation, along with a strong foundation in cellular and molecular biology techniques. This role requires project leadership, workflow coordination, communication with external partners, and timeline management in addition to technical expertise. Additionally, candidates with expertise in emerging areas such as 3D cell culture/organoids, toxicology/immunogenicity, or AI/ML integration for multivariate data analysis are highly desirable.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, execute, and analyze complex cell-based functional assays, including proliferation, cytotoxicity (ADCC, ADCP, CDC), signaling (ELISA, luciferase, HTRF), internalization, and binding/inhibition assays, ensuring high-quality data generation and interpretation
  • Maintain and culture diverse immortalized, primary and engineered cell lines
  • Lead and coordinate assay development programs, managing workflows, timelines, and deliverables across multiple projects
  • Serve as a key point of contact for external partners, preparing and delivering scientific presentations, updates, and reports, and maintaining strong collaborative relationships
  • Manage experimental planning and execution, ensuring high-quality data generation and interpretation
  • Mentor and train junior scientists in cell-based assay development and functional assay techniques, particularly in FACS-based analysis, immune cell functional assays, and cellular and molecular biology techniques
  • Oversee and coordinate cross-functional collaboration, working closely with internal teams such as Protein Science, Antibody Discovery and Optimization, and Bioinformatics to plan, execute, and align on project strategies, timelines, and deliverables
  • Document experimental data in an electronic lab notebook (ELN) and present findings clearly in internal and external meetings
  • Stay up to date with advancements in cell-based assay technologies, bringing innovative approaches to the team

Requirements:

  • PhD (or equivalent) in Immunology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related field). 2-4 years of industry experience
  • Strong expertise in functional cell-based assays and cell biology
  • Proficiency in mammalian cell culture, including primary cells, PBMCs, and engineered cell lines.
  • Strong project leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage timelines, coordinate workflows, and oversee program execution
  • Experience in preparing and delivering scientific presentations, particularly for external collaborators and partners
  • Mammalian cell culture experience, including primary immune cells and engineered cell lines
  • Strong problem-solving skills, ability to manage multiple projects, and excellent communication
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present findings clearly and concisely

Additional Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with high-content imaging and fluorescence microscopy
  • Familiarity with 3D cell culture, organoids, or organ-on-a-chip models
  • Mammalian cell engineering experience (e.g., CRISPR, lentiviral transduction, CAR-T development)
  • Exposure to machine learning approaches for multiparametric assay data analysis
