As we continue to expand our portfolio, we are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Vice President of Finance to join our team.
Job Overview:
The Vice President of Finance will play a critical role in helping to shape the financial strategy and operational effectiveness of our growing portfolio. This individual will oversee quarterly and annual financial reporting for each of the funds under management in coordination with the independent fund administrator and be responsible for all aspects of the accounting for each fund’s general partner and management company. Additional responsibilities include budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis for each fund, general partner and management company. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of the complexities of middle-market private equity operations. Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Leadership: Serve as a strategic partner to senior management and portfolio company executives, providing financial insight and recommendations to support decision-making.
- Financial Reporting & Analysis: Lead the preparation and presentation of financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to include SBA reporting. Manages the annual audit and SBA examination preparation and processes. Analyze financial results to assess performance and identify key drivers of growth or challenges.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Oversee the development of annual budgets and long-term forecasts working with firm management. Monitor financial performance against targets. Prepare quarterly fund projection and market-to-market models. Oversee all aspects of capital calls, distributions, fund management fees, and investor reporting.
- Operational Efficiency: Develop an operational cadence for financial reporting and administration in support of the investment team and senior management to focus their time on investment activities.
- Investor Relations: Collaborate with senior leadership to prepare materials for investor meetings, including quarterly updates, annual reports, and ad-hoc investor requests.
- Due Diligence & Transaction Support: Support due diligence processes for potential investments, providing financial analysis and insights related to acquisitions, financing structures, and business plans. Facilitate the development of financial corrective actions when necessary.
- Team Management: Mentor and develop junior investment professionals within the team to enhance their understand of accounting and finance with regard to operating companies, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all SEC financial regulations and tax laws. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant industry standards and accounting practices. Ensure compliance with SBA regulations at the fund and portfolio company levels.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA or MBA is preferred.
- At least 8 years of experience in finance, with a proven track record in private equity, investment banking, or corporate finance roles, preferably within a middle-market environment with exposure to SBIC Fund regulations and reporting.
- Strong technical knowledge of financial reporting, accounting standards (US GAAP/IFRS), and financial modeling.
- Experience managing and developing teams, including cross-functional collaboration with operational, legal, and portfolio management teams.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to clearly present complex financial information to both internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Knowledge of financial systems and enterprise software platforms including Quicken Online.
- Experience with portfolio company operations and financial reporting in a private equity setting is highly desirable.
