Summary of position:
We are seeking a highly skilled and ambitious Scientist to join our growing team and assist with the development and validation of laboratory-developed tests (LDTs). The ideal candidate will have exposure to LC/MS instrumentation and methods, a strong background in analytical chemistry and molecular biology, and a familiarity with standard laboratory processes and materials.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and validation of LC/MS-based assays for the detection and quantification of target analytes in biological specimens (urine, blood, and saliva)
- Work with senior scientists to optimize assay parameters such as sample preparation, chromatography, and mass spectrometry conditions to achieve high sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy
- Validate assay performance according to CAP LDT standards
- Analyze and interpret LC/MS data to generate accurate and reliable results
- Maintain and troubleshoot LC/MS instrumentation and software
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support research and development projects and ensure timely completion of deliverables
- Document and communicate experimental procedures, results, and conclusions to internal and external stakeholders
- Stay current with the latest developments in LC/MS technology, regulatory requirements, and industry trends
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in analytical chemistry or biochemistry
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a laboratory setting with preference given to experience with LC/MS-based assay development and validation
- Hands-on experience with LC/MS instrumentation and software, including mass spectrometers, HPLC systems, and data processing tools preferred
- Understanding of regulatory requirements for LDTs, including CLIA, CAP, and ISO guidelines preferred
- Process-driven approach to development with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail, accuracy, and documentation
- Demonstrated ability to isolate variables in experimental design and to design experiments that answer specific questions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously, while meeting committed timelines
- Commitment to quality, safety, and compliance with laboratory standards and protocols
