Position Title: Radiology Technologist
Reports To: Director of Operations

Summary: Under the supervision of the Director of Operations, the Radiologic Technologist performs diagnostic procedures at a technical level, performs clerical duties including record keeping, and participates in education to the Family Medicine Residency Program and other trainees. We will be in a brand new building, new department, with new equipment.
Qualifications/Requirements: ARRT certification required; If not ARRT registered, employee must complete registration within 1 year of hire.
- Ability to obtain a quality diagnostic x-ray using proper positioning, immobilization, and shielding techniques.
- Basic knowledge of sterile techniques, universal precautions, OSHA standards and personal radiation protection practices.
- Skills to recognize interpretable quality radiographs.
- Exhibits caring attitude when relating to patients.
- Professional and ethical conduct.
- Strong customer service and verbal/written communication skills.
- Ability to comply with all HIPAA requirements.
- Ability to work with others to attain common goals.
- Ability to perform EKG’s and Blood Pressure checks.
* Ability to perform venipuncture or finger-sticks (previous experience helpful not required).
- Ability to maintain a clean, orderly, well-stocked room.
- Ability to accurately record patient exams and follow proper billing procedures.
- Ability to acknowledge patients’ presence and answer telephone in a courteous manner.
- Willingness to cross train within departments for proper coverage.
- Ability to acquire and maintain CPR certification.
- Maintain proficiency in EPIC.
Physical Requirements: Primarily medium work; exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, 20 lbs., frequently or 10 lbs. constantly
Physical Activity: Most work involves standing and walking with frequent stooping, kneeling, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling; intermittent sitting, grasping, and rapid working speed, talking-speaking clearly, hearing conversation, and seeing near are also utilized.
Work/Environmental: Equipment generates radiation. Requires some basic mechanical knowledge, and all equipment is electrical; moderate noise level consistent with an office environment.
Personal/Physiological: Working with and around people, making judgements in emergency situations and intra- organizational and external communication, frequent changes in the volume of work.

Position Responsibilities:
Essential
N 1. Prepare room for examination.
Y 2. Assist in ensuring that a signed order with clinical indications is obtained in advance
N 3. Transfer patient into and out of exam room.
Y 4. Position and transfer patient on to and off of table.
Y 5. Provide quality customer service. Explain all studies to patient prior to exam in a caring manner, using effective psychology to alleviate patient fears.
Y 6. Protect patient from unnecessary radiation according to prescribed safety standards.
Y 7. Provide immobilization devices as required by patient and radiologist.
Y 8. Operate equipment and select proper technical factors using accurate technique charts.
Y 9. Follow universal precautions, adhere to OSHA standards, and prioritize personal radiation precautions including wearing and maintaining film badges.
Y 10. Work with contracted radiologists to ensure radiology readings are getting done in a timely manner
Y 11. Practice sterile techniques when applicable.
N 12. Assist physician in special procedure/s when necessary.
N 13. Assist in explaining finding to patients needing follow-up. Assist in coordinating follow-up studies.
Y 14. Assist in ensuring that prior reports are available to the radiologist.
Y 15. Accurately process radiology encounter in Epic for correct coding and billing, and complete Medicare ABN or waiver forms when appropriate. Notify supervisor of any errors or problems.
Y 16. Participate in internal check of billing accuracy or problems with reports as defined by the department.
Y 17. Register patient accurately in daily log.
Y 18. Transfer authorized patient films.
Y 19. Maintain current records by charting reports accurately in Epic.
Y 20. Rotate among departments and within clinic for proper coverage as determined by supervisor.
Y 21. Participate as a team player with all team members at Mosaic Family Health.
Y 22. Order radiology supplies.
23. Assist with and track radiology operation certificates.
Y 24. Follow and implement changes in policies and procedures directed from the director.
25. Implement and reflect the Mosaic Family Health management philosophy and mission in the delivery of health care services.
Y 26. Attend and participate in staff meetings.
N 27. Demonstrate commitment to professional growth and competence.
Y 28. Provide assistance in the laboratory with phlebotomy and CLIA waived tests.
Y 29. Assist in monitoring of customer satisfaction and related studies.
Y 30. Identify areas of improvement within the general x-ray departments.
Y 31. Monitor work within area and correct any process or individual issues to maintain high quality diagnostic procedures, safety and accuracy.
Y 32. Follow quality central procedures according to current radiology protocol.
Y 33. Maintain ARRT Registration.
Y 34. Maintain CPR certification.
Y 35. Follows HIPPA regulations.
N 36. Perform other duties as assigned.
