Job Summary

Mosaic Technologies is looking for a Fiber Splicer to join our growing utility construction team. This position is responsible for splicing, terminating, and maintaining fiber-optic cable. The Fiber Splicer works mostly independently and performs extensive testing and repair of both existing and new installations of fiber-optic cable. The ideal candidate will be an individual with experience and knowledge of the telecommunications construction industry necessary to work in the most effective and safe manner.

Qualifications and Skills

·         Valid driver’s license

·         Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment

·         Ability to operate and maintain equipment and tools

·         General industry knowledge and ability to interpret various prints

·         Strong communication skills

·         Ability and willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions

·         Willingness to work with team members, but work mostly independently

·         Dependability to the company, co-workers, and customers

·         High school diploma plus one year of applicable experience

Essential Functions (including but not limited to)

·         Splice fiber cables and cut terminals for new construction

·         Daily maintenance on equipment and tools

·         Maintain system by testing to locate trouble and repair or replace defective sections

·         Identify, count, and prepare groups of pairs for splicing. Add new lines of service as directed

·         Mount demarcation devices and protectors at customer premises

·         Administrative tasks such as reporting time and materials for completed work, balancing inventory, and recording footages

·         Respond to emergency situations during non-work hours  

·         Take on-call as deemed necessary by the company
