We are looking for a motivated Instructional Developer to join our LINC team!

Please note to be eligible for this Instructional Developer position you must have LINC instructional experience. 


POSITION:

Instructional Developer - Vancouver Waitlist Program


DEPARTMENT: Employment, Language, and Social Enterprise


DUTIES may include:

  • Be familiar with MOSAIC’S vision, mission, values, strategic plan, and integrated client service delivery approach, program and/or project proposals and contracts, and your role in achieving the goals and contractual outcomes of the department
  • Be familiar with the English Language Program contracts and operations policies, and understand their role in achieving the stated goals and contractual outcomes, through either direct or indirect means

Instructional Leadership Team

  • As a member of the Instructional Leadership Team (Instructional Developers) participate in the development of appropriate systems, procedures, and standards, and maintain and implement them
  • Chair Instructional team meetings as required
  •  Assist Manager in the preparation of Program Reports and Program Funding Proposals
  • In collaboration with the Instructional Leadership team: (a) identify areas for program and curriculum development, and work to develop and improve the program curriculum and resources (b) identify common needs for professional development across the program, and plan and deliver professional development sessions
  • With the Manager, organize and implement professional development opportunities
  •  Oversee program-monitoring activities as outlined in the language programs work plan and as directed by the Manager
  • Help to identify and respond to emerging program issues and work closely with the Manager in planning solutions

Instructional Support

  • Assist the Manager in hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating language instructors, classroom assistants and volunteer outreach worker (Language Program Instructional Developer position may involve supervision of 6-10 staff)
  • Provide support to the language Instructors and act as a coach to language instructional staff
  • Stay up-to-date and current on instructional theory and methodology including the use of technology
  • Support new and ongoing instructor orientation and training by keeping up to date the “Teaching at MOSAIC” course on MOODLE and by following-up and supporting instructors in accessing and following this course
  • Support program assistants and instructors/facilitators in responding to client issues and concerns, and by communicating these issues and concerns to the Manager; work closely with the Manager in planning solution
  • Collaborate and coordinate on program delivery and curriculum planning with ID's and managers across other sites.
  • Plan and coordinate scheduling of guest speakers, workshops, fieldtrips, PD training and LINC sub roster. Assist instructors in the arranging and booking field trips, guest speakers, volunteers, settlement counselors, computer lab, etc.
  • In consultation with instructors and the Manager, purchase instructional resources and equipment, and organize and maintain the Resource Library, including books, authentic resources (maps, pamphlets, etc.), online resources within learning management system and MS Teams.
  • In consultation with facilitators and the Manager, organize instructional resources and equipment and organize and maintain online curriculum.
  • Schedule and deliver student program and portfolio orientations, and support instructors in the assessment process, including but not limited to, designing formative assessments, giving student feedback, writing report cards, conducting student interviews, and other related tasks
  • Plan and coordinate class scheduling for in person and online program delivery of blended program in collaboration with program and site manager.
  • As required, coordinate the work of volunteers/practicum students to enhance the learning experience for students/ clients.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of language acquisition and immigrant settlement issues;
  • working knowledge of Canadian Language Benchmarks and PBLA
  • A demonstrated understanding of EDI concepts and frameworks.
  • Standard office programs including Microsoft Office Suite and learning management systems including Moodle
  • Standard First Aid Certificate
  • Working knowledge of the CLBs (Canadian Language Benchmarks) and PBLA (Portfolio Based Language Assessment) is required
  • Mental Health First Aid and Trauma Informed Practice training is an asset

Education/certifications:

  • University undergraduate degree plus certificate or equivalent in Teaching ESL
  • University degree in a relevant field (i.e., Adult Education, Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, Inclusion Studies) Master’s degree or equivalent is preferred
  • CLB Bootcamp certificate or equivalent training is required
  • Completion of Orientation to the ESL for Adult Literacy Learners offered through the Centre for Canadian Language Benchmarks is required https://learning.language.ca/

Current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required 


COMPENSATION:  $31.26  - $34.56 per hour

 

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Applicants must submit a copy of their cover letter, resume, and TESL or equivalent certification, CLB Bootcamp, and ESL for ALL Certificates to this application to be considered.
  • Candidates must be able to commute to the Burnaby Language and or Surrey Language Centre and or Vancouver Language Centres. 

HOURS: Full-time, fixed-term (35 hours per week); contract ends March 31, 2026

Please note: Schedule of hours will vary to meet the programming needs for classes that run mornings, afternoons, and evenings.


BENEFITS: A competitive benefits package is provided with contracts of at least 1 year in length and which offer a minimum of 17.5 hours of work per week.
