- Candidates residing in the following states will be considered for remote employment: Alabama, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, Nebraska, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, and Virginia. Remote work will not be permitted from any other state at this time.
- The Outpatient Coding Manager is a Coding Professional with a high level of clinical proficiency necessary for the oversight Outpatient Coding area who is responsible for the overall supervision, management and daily operations and delivery of Outpatient coding services and creation of consistency and efficiency in outpatient claims processing and data collection to optimize reimbursement and facilitate data quality in outpatient services. The Outpatient Coding Manager must have proven leadership and management skills to promote effective and efficient review of provider documentation to support the patient's level of care and appropriate assignment of codes and develop action plans for improvement. Additionally, the Outpatient Coding Manager must have knowledge and job experience in management and supervision of personnel. This position is employed by Mosaic Life Care.
- Develops and manages the Outpatient Coding activities to meet department and corporate targets and goals. Based upon strategic initiatives and departmental goals develop work plan annually and report completed activities to HIM director monthly. Manages and oversees the daily operational activities, data collection, analysis and reports. Participates on committees and conducts studies as necessary to demonstrate improvement in clinical documentation processes.
- Identify Coding improvement issues and through excellent communication with physicians, nurses, Ancillary Department Managers, PFS, coding and other members of the health care team, work independently to resolve such issues. Develop and present employee productivity reports of Coding staff to the HIM Team Leader monthly.
- Develop departmental budget with HIM Team Leader. Continually monitor for meeting and managing departmental goals and budgets. Negotiate for budgetary dollars and FTE's necessary to support business initiatives for Coding/ team’s future growth when needed.
- Other duties as assigned
- Associate's Degree - Health services is preferred.
- RHIT, RHIA, CCS-P, CPC, or COC is required.
- 5 years of recent coding and documentation experience and recent supervisory is required. Management experience with and advanced knowledge of CPT-4, ICD-10-CM classification systems, Coding Guidelines, Coding Clinic, APC reimbursement, NCCI edits, LCD/NCD and complex disease processes is required.
