This position plays a critical role in fostering a positive labor environment, managing employee relations in a unionized setting, ensuring compliance with employment laws, and driving HR strategies that support plant operations. The ideal candidate will have 5 to 10 years of progressive HR experience, with a strong background in labor relations, employee engagement, and performance management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary HR contact for plant leadership and union representatives.
- Administer and interpret collective bargaining agreements (CBAs); manage grievances, arbitrations, and contract negotiations.
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies to ensure staffing levels meet production goals.
- Coach and support managers on employee relations, performance management, and disciplinary actions.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws, including OSHA, FMLA, ADA, and EEO.
- Implement and oversee safety programs in collaboration with EHS personnel.
- Analyze HR metrics and develop action plans to improve workforce performance and engagement.
- Manage training and development initiatives to build employee capabilities and support career growth.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and collaboration.
- Support diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts within the plant.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree or HR certification preferred).
- 5 to 10 years of HR experience, with at least 3 years in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Demonstrated experience working in a unionized environment and handling labor relations matters.
- In-depth knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Proven ability to build trust and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of employees and management.
- Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications:
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification.
- Experience leading change management or culture transformation initiatives.
- Bilingual (Spanish or other languages) a plus.
This role will sit ONSITE out of the Wilmington, DE facility.
