What are the responsibilities and job description for the K-8 Art Teacher (2025-26) position at MOSAICS Public School?

We are looking for a talented K-8 art teacher with the skills, passion and commitment to help us continue to build on our existing STEAM programs. The art teacher teaches 3 elementary art lessons, 2 middle school art lessons, and 1-2 middle school electives each day. By teaching students to draw, paint, make ceramics and produce other art types, our art teacher will encourage students to express themselves and inspire creative thinking.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing an inviting, exciting, inclusive, and joyful learning environment;
- Participating wholeheartedly in professional development and enrich expertise in the subject area;
- Developing curriculum and lesson plans that are rigorous, clear, measurable, and aligned with Idaho Standards and MOSAICS instructional approaches that fosters creativity and self-expression and creates an environment where students feel empowered to explore their artistic abilities and express themselves freely;
- Collaborating with colleagues on a consistent basis to integrate art across the curriculum and support interdisciplinary learning experiences;
- Delivering age-appropriate art lessons and activities that cater to the diverse needs and learning styles of students in grades K-8;
- Integrating various art forms, techniques, and mediums into the curriculum, including but not limited to drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, and mixed media;
- Following the school’s policies and procedures for student conduct, discipline, and social-emotional development;
- Communicating with students, parents, and colleagues through excellent verbal and written skills;
- Forming meaningful relationships with families and involve parents in their children’s education.
- Using a variety of instructional strategies and assessment methods to meet the cognitive and affective needs of all students;
- Continuing to be informed about current trends, developments, and best practices in art education and incorporated new ideas and techniques into teaching practice;
- Incorporating technology to enhance learning experiences and promote digital literacy in the arts;
- Organizing and participating in art exhibitions, showcases, and other events to celebrate students’ achievements and foster a sense of community;
- Demonstrating kindness, enthusiasm, a sense of humor, investment in continued learning and professional growth, and a passion for supporting children as they grow and learn;
- Working actively to cultivate an inclusive environment and support a school community grounded in empathy, social responsibility, and an appreciation and respect for individual differences;
- Employing effective classroom management skills;
- Providing constructive feedback and encouragement to students to help them develop their skills and confidence;
- Maintaining accurate and timely documentation of grades, behavior, academic concerns, and parent communication.
- Inventorying, organizing and ordering art supplies
- Performing any other duties as may be assigned by the Administrator.
Desired Experience, Skills and Mindsets
:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a bachelor’s degree in art education, or fine arts.
- Idaho or Out-of-State Teaching Credential (K-8 or Visual Arts K-12)

- Open to feedback and dedicated to growing and improving your craft as an educator
- Strong initiative and desire to take ownership of the role and the work responsibilities described above
:
- At least 2-3 years of teaching experience (leading hands-on activities in a classroom, after school program, day camp, etc.)
- Familiarity with project-based learning (preferred, though not required)
- Familiarity with foundational engineering concepts (preferred, though not required)
- The ability to manage multiple student projects and personalities
Communication Skills:
Ability to provide general district information and respond to questions from administrators, managers, employees, customers, and/or the general public in a professional and pleasant manner.
Problem Solving Skills:
Demonstrate sound judgment by taking appropriate actions regarding questionable findings or concerns.
Productivity/Efficiency Skills:
Consistently demonstrate ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner in order to meet current needs, such as reprioritizing work as necessary; organize job functions and work area to be able to effectively complete varied assignments within established time frame.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram form. Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing (Microsoft Office), spreadsheets (Excel), presentation software (PowerPoint), and Google Applications.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works inside and meets deadlines with severe time constraints in a fast-paced environment on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously required to sit; occasionally walk and stand and reach with hands and arms; occasionally lift and carry up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job includes close vision; very good depth perception; and the ability to communicate through speech.
Salary and Benefits
Salary: Educators will earn between $48,175 and $70,181 depending on experience, education, and certification. This salary is based on the 2024-25 salary schedule and may be adjusted higher in 2025-26.
