Employment Terms: 170 Contracted Days

Position Summary:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students
to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops and administers school elementary curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives
- Encourages parental involvement in students' education by developing methods for improvement and reinforcing classroom goals in the home environment to ensures effective communication
- Assesses and tracks student progress towards objectives, expectations, and goals
- Organizes and maintains a system for accurate record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all students as required by district procedures and applicable laws
- Prepares lesson plans, assigns lessons/test, corrects papers and records grades
- Teaches rules of conduct for classroom and school campus
- Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to student learning
- Manages student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment
- Organizes classroom routine to minimize classroom disciplinary problems
- Handles all but the most serious classroom disciplinary problems him/herself
- Ensures that student conduct conforms with the school's standards and school district policies
- Supervises students in activities that take place out of the classroom during the school day, including cafeteria, hallways, restrooms, playground and field trips
- Administers standardized tests in accordance with District testing programs
- Collaborates with instructional staff, school personnel and parents
- Coordinates class field trips
- Abides by, all district policies and procedures
- Participates in and attend all staff meetings, training, and certification courses as required
- Performs other duties as assigned by the superintendent
Qualifications:
- Certification/License: State of Oklahoma Teaching Certificate
- Oklahoma State Certification as an Elementary Teacher
- Bachelors from an accredited college or university in Elementary Education
- Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade levels a plus
- Ability to pass a background check
- Good Attendance and Work Record
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
- Work closely with students and staff
- General good physical condition necessary to perform the duties of the job
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, bend, stoop, operate a computer, and other office equipment
- Reach with hands and arms, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- May involve exposure to noise levels ranging from moderate to loud on occasions
- May involve work in crowded environments
- Must be agile and able to think and move quickly to respond to out of control student behavior
- Majority inside working conditions with some exposure to environmental conditions during outside duty
