Job Title: Physical Education/Health Teacher/Coach

Employment Terms: 170 Contracted Days

Position Summary:
To motivate each pupil to cultivate physical fitness, hygienic habits, and good social and emotional adjustment; to discover and develop talents of pupils in physical achievement; to develop strength, skill, agility, poise, and coordination in individual, dual, and team physical activities and sports, in accordance with each pupil’s ability. As a two season coach your role involves working closely with children in various sports disciplines, fostering their skills, promoting teamwork, and encouraging personal growth.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive environment in the physical education areas
- Teaches knowledge and skills in physical fitness, health education, or team sports, utilizing course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities
- Evaluates each pupil’s growth in physical skills, knowledge, and contribution in team sports
- Works cooperatively with other physical education teachers in planning a balanced physical education program
- Analyzes, demonstrates, and explains basic skills, knowledge’s, and strategies of formal sports, and fundamentals of body movement
- Selects and requisitions uniforms, equipment, and instructional aids; maintains required inventory records
- Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned work day
- Knowledge of coaching techniques and procedures
- Educate participants on the rules, techniques, and strategies of various sports
- Provide ongoing feedback to athletes to help them improve their skills and performance
- Foster a supportive atmosphere that encourages participation from all skill levels
- Ability to motivate students in a clean and orderly environment that is fun and engaging while maintaining discipline in a classroom
- Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district, and/or in self-selected professional growth activities
- Participates sponsorship of student activities and field trips
- Assumes responsibility for performing any other tasks assigned by the superintendent
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
- Previous experience in coaching or teaching physical education is preferred
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Must have the proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
- Capability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Sitting, standing, running and other strenuous physical activity
- Maintain emotional control under stress
- Frequent districtwide and statewide travel
- Frequent prolonged and irregular hours
· May involve exposure to noise levels ranging from moderate to loud
