Job Purpose : Maintains engineering department operations by maintaining purchasing processes; monitoring and awarding organization-wide service contracts; providing administrative support; managing staff.Duties :
- Accomplishes engineering human resource objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures.
- Achieves engineering operational objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements; implementing change.
- Meets engineering financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
- Maintains purchasing process of engineering cost centers by formulating department policy and procedure; troubleshooting accounts payable problems with vendors and financial services; supervising storeroom purchasing personnel; maintaining inventory control; analyzing costs of capital purchases; maintaining audit documentation.
- Monitors organization-wide service contracts by controlling contract preparation and review processes; obtaining required signatures; meeting renewal dates; negotiating contracts; authorizing payments; verifying service completion and accuracy of charges.
- Maintains department computer network system by determining hardware and software needs; making purchasing recommendations to information systems; loading software; correcting software problems; training personnel in the use of programs; setting up data bases; overseeing data entry; anticipating and planning for system expansion.
- Completes operations requirements of storeroom by providing clerical support for processing of purchasing documents; acting as contact person for payment problems with vendors and accounts payable; providing computer support for inventory system; ensuring adherence to purchasing policies and procedures.
- Identifies customer service requirements, both actual and anticipated by active personal contact and rapport with potential and actual customers and other persons in a position to understand service requirements.
- Improves quality results by studying, evaluating, and re-designing processes; implementing changes.
