General Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Communication Technician Apprenticeship Program certification or certificate of proficiency - S.L.P.A. or AAAS Degree.
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Accurate and efficient at completing tasks on time without close supervision.
- Ability to relate in a positive manner with students, parents, and staff/teachers.
- Must be able to work effectively with small groups or individual students under the supervision of certificated staff.
- Willingness to work at multiple school sites.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find acceptable.
- Assist the Speech Language Pathologist in screening procedures.
- Carry out individual treatment plans as set up by the SLP without direct supervision.
- Perform ongoing documentation of students' performance and progress as well as maintain/organize students' records.
- Attend meetings as directed.
- Previous instruction and experience with speech and language disabilities are preferred.
- Knowledge of the educational and social impact of speech and language disabilities is preferred.
- Understands all aspects of Individual Education Programs for students.
- Ability to work cooperatively with a team of professionals and parents in implementing Individual Education Programs.
- Travel as needed.
- Communicates with appropriate staff and students' caretakers to accomplish job duties.
- Assist Speech/Language department with purchasing equipment and supplies.
- Willingness to receive training as needed.
