SUMMARY
A pool attendant is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and safety of a swimming pool area by enforcing pool rules, monitoring patrons, providing customer service, and performing basic maintenance tasks like cleaning pool decks, checking water chemistry, and ensuring proper equipment usage, all while prioritizing the safety of swimmers and upholding a positive guest experience; this often includes tasks like managing poolside furniture, and addressing any issues or concerns that may arise.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor and ensure the overall comfort of members and guests
- Provide a warm greeting upon arrival and deliver consistent and superior service
- Participate in pool safety programs, training, and documentation to ensure the overall safety of guests in the pool area
- Complete opening and closing duties while maintaining the appearance of the pool deck throughout the shift
- Use critical thinking to resolve guest concerns and following up to ensure the guest's satisfaction
- Identify and report in a timely manner any inconsistencies, hazards, injuries, and / or processes that could negatively affect pool operations
- Provide CPR or first aid as needed, following all emergency protocols
- Perform other job related duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Pool Attendant has no supervisory responsibilities.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to use proper judgment and multi-tasking abilities to meet the demands of a demanding membership are necessary. The Pool Attendant must also be able to swim in case of emergency situations.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE
High school or equivalent education. Experience working with children.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
The Swimming Instructor must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English fluently.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Minimal computer skills are needed.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Basic math skills are needed.
REASONING ABILITY
The Pool Attendant must be able to solve problems within his / her scope and reason with children in this role.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The Pool Attendant must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time. S / he must be able to swim and work outside in hot weather.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position requires exposure to sun and excessive heat. There is moderate exposure to noise. The work week includes morning to dusk, weekend, and holiday hours.
