Cabling Technician / Crew Leader
For over 45 years, Moss has been Michigan’s leading single-source provider of innovative technology solutions for business, education, and healthcare. Our areas of expertise include audio video, cabling, managed services, networks, paging and mass notification, security, and unified communications.
We are seeking Cabling Technicians and Crew Leaders to join our team in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Technicians are responsible for the proper installation and troubleshooting of all types of cables and connections, structured cabling systems, and most voice or data systems installed by Moss. Much of our success is dependent on Technicians’ skills and their willingness to accept this significant responsibility. New employees learn skills, efficient work procedures, and dedication to quality from the examples set by Technicians.
Essential Functions
- Installs copper and fiber optic cabling for voice, data, video, and sound systems.
- Sets up, operates and saves results using test equipment for structured cabling including copper and fiber optic cables.
- Sets up telecom closets for the most effective use of equipment and space.
- Complies with applicable telecommunication standards and building codes.
General Functions
- Complies with company policies, procedures, and safety standards and ensures the compliance of others.
- Works, dresses, and communicates in a professional manner that enhances the company’s reputation in our industry and ensure that assigned crew members achieve these traits.
- Cleans, maintains, and inventories assigned company vehicles and tools.
- Maintain accurate documentation of work performed according to industry guidelines.
- Follows directions accurately and perform tasks as efficiently as possible.
Qualifications
- High School diploma
- Competent in reading and writing
- Previously demonstrated ability and desire to constantly learn new concepts and share information.
- Familiarity with and proper use of hand tools, computers, and test equipment.
- Mechanical problem solving and creativity.
- Ability to accurately follow instructions and relay instructions to others.
- Good natural or corrected eyesight with the ability to distinguish colors.
- Ability to climb ladder and scaffolding.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints and telecommunication schematic drawings.
- Understanding of building construction and construction practices.
- Excellent communications and customer relation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Self-motivated and energetic spirit to help move department toward continuous growth and profitability.
Job Types: Full-time, Temp-to-hire
Pay: From $19.00 per hour
