This position is responsible for the daily upkeep of the school, rectory, and church upon request. The Custodian is also responsible for the grounds of the school, church & rectory as needed. Snow and ice removal, mowing lawns, and trimming are prime factors in this job description, along with set-up for parish events, including classes, and festival when needed.

WORKING SITUATIONS
Occasionally requires variable hours and on call response after regular business hours to meet the needs of the parish. Occasionally it requires some weekend and evening work for events or the ability to arrange coverage. Local travel for business purposes and parish training may also be required.

Essential Functions:
- Check daily with supervisor/pastor for update. Check school & parish calendar for activities (school functions, meals, religious education functions, social events, etc.)
- Must report for snow/ice removal without call
- All expenditures need to be requisitioned in writing, then approved by supervisor and invoices turned in to the Business Manager
Daily Tasks: (See separate duties/responsibilities detail)
- Clean bathrooms – Mirrors/sinks / wipe toilet bowls & urinals / sweep & mop floors / empty & dispose trash
- Restock bathrooms (8 total – Halls 2 each/girls & boys, 2 Mohr hall, 2 teachers) paper towels / soap & toilet paper – check daily
- Classrooms - Trash removal/disposal / sweep floors/vacuum rugs / refill sanitizers / tidy room
- Sweep hallways & entry rugs/mats
- Replace Light Bulbs as needed
- For Safety/security: Check to make sure facilities/doors are locked & safety protocols are followed
- Mop classrooms (twice weekly)
- Clean bathrooms (twice weekly)
- Seasonal yard work – weekly – mowing / edging/trimming / weeding
- Annually – Mulching / leaf removal / seeding / hedge trimming / fertilize grass (as needed)
Monthly Tasks:
- Mops hallway floors (twice monthly)
- Mohr hall & teachers’ lounge (as time allows)
Annual - semi-Annual Tasks:
- Tune up Lawn Mower (spring and Mid-summer)
- Snow blower maintenance as needed
- Clean all Light Fixtures inside and outside
- Festival Help
- Clean wood trim
- Brush Cobwebs from all surfaces
- Painting as needed (during planned school closings)
JOB DUTIES/INSTRUCTIONS OUTLINED
WINTER SNOW REMOVAL
- Snow blow or hand shovel – all sidewalks / service entry ways / entries / driveways / distribute salt or sand to slick areas
SUMMER - WEEKLY

- Mow Lawn with riding mower
- Trim around shrubs and bushes (Hand mower or weed eater)
- All grass to be removed from walks and drives
- Remove all grass clippings
- All gravestones are to be clipped, cleaned and hand trimmed, if necessary
- Plant and water flowers
- Trim around buildings by hand (use push mower or weed trimmer) and collect all debris or grass. Use mower collector to catch all clippings.
- Apply weed killer
- Apply fertilizers
- Trim hedges neatly
- Clean weeds from
- Cracks in driveway and sidewalks
Marginal Functions:

- Commitment to the mission of the parish.
- Successful work experience in minor repair work, including carpentry and painting.
- Successful work experience implementing a comprehensive cleaning plan for a facility, including sweeping, dusting, washing, waxing.
- Ability to recruit, train, and support employees, contractors, and/or volunteers.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Ability to provide own transportation for job-related duties.
- Ability to be on-call for emergencies.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends
- Knowledge of grounds equipment operation
- Repair skills for minor equipment
