What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Educator – STEAM position at MOTAT?
MOTAT is an interactive museum with a focus on creating a fun, visually stimulating environment for our visitors. It is home to a unique mix of collections and experiences and our vision is to educate and inspire the innovators of tomorrow.
We are looking for an experienced Educator with a business strategy mindset to hit the ground running within our dedicated and passionate Education team. Operationally, you will be responsible for managing MOTAT’s STEAM Cell educational service this includes delivery of education programmes that provide interactive and engaging learning experiences for students from ECE to Yr 10. Your enthusiasm and ability to deliver our education programmes to a high standard for all age groups, will ensure all Tamariki are inspired to be the innovators of tomorrow.
Strategically, you will be looking for opportunities to grow and develop the STEAM Cell service. You will be keen to extend beyond the Greater Auckland region, bringing the STEM learning to schools throughout the North Island. Your ability to build relationships with external organisations will create opportunities for partnerships and collaborations which further grow the service.
Ideally you will have NZ teaching experience in ECE, primary and/or secondary sector, with working knowledge of the NZ Curriculum and Te Whariki, ensuring teacher/students’ needs and specific requirements of MOTAT’s contracted commitments are met. However, we would consider someone who can demonstrate a knowledge and experience in these areas from a previous relevant role. Experience in business development and accountability reporting is also desirable. You will be an exceptional communicator, able to communicate effectively with children and business leaders alike, and it would be a huge advantage if you can kōrero Māori within the context of your role.
A full drivers license and the ability to travel/stay outside of the Auckland region on occasion is essential.
