ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:
The mission of Mother Africa is to support African women refugees and immigrants and their families to reach their highest potential. We have been working in the South King County area since 2012 and have a strong record of community-led projects and programs.
OVERVIEW OF POSITION:
Mother Africa is seeking a Program Manager to support program level staff including teams of Supervisors and their program Case Managers and Program Coordinators. The programs you will supervise include case management programs, and direct service projects. This role is positioned to report up to the organization’s directors and directly supervise the program staff.
JOB DUTIES:
The Program Manager will provide direct support to multiple program teams. Key aspects of the role include:
- Have a strong understanding of the program design for each of the programs you are responsible for supervising, including the expected deliverables, timelines, and budget. Track these deliverables to ensure effective progress and outcomes are met.
- Run program evaluation including recommendations for program implementation and improvements.
- Draft monthly, quarterly, and/or end-of-programend of program reports for funders.
- Direct and lead Program Supervisors by driving operational excellence, ensuring program accountability, and strategically guiding their teams' performance and development
- Meet weekly with each of your Supervisees to provide 1 on 1 supervision support of their program work. Provide ongoing mentorship to support professional development goals.
- Initiate/maintain active program chat (WhatsApp) and other communication with program staff where program updates are shared in a timely manner.
- Serve as an active member on the leadership team, including weekly meetings, lead committees, program iteration, work to ensure continued alignment between organization values and culture.
- Collaborate with HR to conduct interviews for potential candidates and participate in the interview process to assess candidate fit for the program.
- Work with HR to ensure a smooth onboarding process for new hires and provide program-specific training and orientation.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date records in Google folders and ensure all documents are accurately labeled and easily accessible.
- Make purchases for the organization based on approved program and operations budgets, with oversight from the Deputy Director.
- Attend program events to support staff.
- Represent Mother Africa in events, conferences, and meetings and promote Mother Africa's programs and services to external partners.
- Report any barriers or challenges in program delivery to the Directors, and participate in creative problem-solving.
- Perform annual performance evaluations for each of your supervisees.
- Ensure that all agency policies and procedures are carried out by all supervisees.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS:
- At least five years of experience or understanding and working with African or Middle Eastern refugees and immigrants, or living and working in Africa.
- Proven ability to relate effectively and respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds and to promote a culturally diverse environment, including immigrants and refugees of diverse ethnic, language and cultural backgrounds in a sensitive manner.
- Prior experience as a case manager in a social service agency, minimum 3-4 year
- Supervision experience of staff teams in a social service agency, minimum 2 years.
- Experience working with a diverse team of staff members from multi-ethnic, multi-racial, multi-lingual backgrounds in a respectful and culturally responsive way.
- Experience at a leadership level in policy development and implementation, cCreative thinking, very adaptive and responsive.
- Ability to create new systems and protocols such as case management best practices, filing, data management, timesheets and client tracking.
- Experience with data tracking and drafting reports for funders.
- Timely management of deliverables, including meeting multiple deadlines at a time.
- Experience with program monitoring and evaluation Graduate level degree OR bachelor's level degree in a relevant field (social work, social services) with additional years of work experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Suite and internet tools.
- Willingness to comply with established agency performance standards.
- Compliance with HIPPA and confidentiality.
- Must have reliable, independent transportation for frequent travel between sites, a valid Washington State Driver’s License and proof of car insurance.
- Ability to thrive in an ever-changing environment, being flexible to changing conditions.
- Knowledge of human service delivery systems and systems advocacy, and solid understanding of King County available services and resources.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior experience working at the program level in a nonprofit/social service agency, minimum 2 years.
- Second language proficiency in any African language.
