The Bartender is a non-exempt, hourly position. The starting compensation is $4/hour (plus tips) for evening shifts and $9/hour (plus tips) for daytime shifts. Some hours are required on nights and weekends. This position also qualifies for a telephone stipend of $30 per month and a meal stipend up to $80 per month. This position reports to the General Manager.
The Bartender will execute timely, accurate and friendly service while preparing the highest quality beverages for our guests. Each bartender’s primary objective is to provide our guests such an enjoyable experience, they will want to return to continue supporting local food in Tulsa. This position is expected to assist guests with questions about food and retail offerings and be knowledgeable about our company's history, features, upcoming events and specialties.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Must exhibit excellent customer service even during peak hours with high volume. This position will be the face of Mother Road Market and must make the guest experience the top priority.
- Maintain a stocked bar with beer, wine, liquor, and related supplies such as ice, glassware, napkins, or straws during your shift. Assist the restocking and replenishment of bar inventory and supplies for the following shift.
- Responsible for learning POS system(s) to enter customer order, track inventory and account for sales and discounts accurately and honestly.
- Maintain cleanliness in all areas of the bar including counters, sinks, utensils, shelves and storage areas. Clean bars, work areas, and tables.
- This position requires a good attitude and willingness to be a part of a team to ensure that the work culture behind the bar stays positive and constructive.
- Responsible for knowing and adhering to food handling standards and company safety and cleaning protocols, keeping highest standards to clean and sanitize hands, work station and high-touch surfaces.
- Responsible for following social distancing guidelines while working and properly wearing all parts of the assigned uniform as instructed.
- Responsible for safe handling of alcohol items from the WEL Bar and adhering all ABLE rules and regulations.
- Must have strong communication skills, be able to multitask, follow directions and be able to work effectively on a team. Must be punctual, reliable and willing to jump in and help wherever needed.
- Must be self-sufficient and capable of problem solving.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required by the manager on duty.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to traverse a large space quickly, navigating through doors and on stairs while items related to role.
- Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time, up to 8 hours
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times
- At Least 1 year prior bartending experience with a strong working knowledge of beer, wine and cocktails, preferred. Prior barista experience is highly preferred.
- Required to work night and weekend shifts and some holiday hours as well.
- High school diploma or equivalent, preferred
- Tulsa Health Department Food Handler Permit, required
- ABLE License with proof of ACE Training or equivalent, required
- Due to ABLE regulations, this position must be 21 years or older to perform necessary job functions.
