Position Title: Director of Programs

Responsible to: Assistant Executive Director

Summation of Job Responsibilities:

1. Provide oversight and leadership for the Mother’s Refuge Maternity Home, Transitional Living Program, and Aftercare Program to ensure comprehensive and effective services for residents.

2. Supervise, monitor, and maintain the structured programs, ensuring that services align with the organization's mission and objectives.

3. Lead a team of program staff, providing support, training, and guidance to ensure quality service delivery.

4. Work in collaboration with the Case Manager to coordinate educational, vocational, and employment-related activities for residents.

5. Develop and oversee daily living, recreational, and house activities to meet the needs of residents, including scheduling outings, appointments, and educational opportunities.

6. Manage and oversee the resident’s financial literacy programs, including budgeting, allowances, and the in-house store.

7. Create, maintain, and distribute a monthly activities calendar and facilitate resident house meetings.

8. Assign and oversee household chores for residents, ensuring accountability and personal responsibility.

9. Design, implement, and supervise in-house life-skills programming, covering topics such as parenting, nutrition, birth preparation, financial management, and personal development.

10. Step in to cover duties of other staff members during absences due to vacation, illness, or other circumstances as needed.

11. Manage and maintain internal scheduling tools, including Google Calendars, weekend communicators, and informational boards.

12. Participate in leadership meetings, including monthly staff meetings, weekly case consultations, and supervision meetings with the Executive Director.

13. Prepare and submit required reports to the Executive Director to ensure transparency and program effectiveness.

14. Assist in the ongoing development and refinement of program curricula and services to enhance support for residents.

15. Establish and maintain strong partnerships with external agencies and community organizations to support residents’ successful transitions.

16. Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Qualifications for the Position:

1. Education: Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; a master’s degree is highly preferred. CPR, First Aid, and Med Tech certifications required.

2. Experience: Demonstrated experience working with at-risk populations, including teens, single parents, and individuals facing housing instability. Experience in leadership, program development, and team supervision is essential.

3. Character: Strong interpersonal skills, high ethical standards, and a commitment to the well-being of program participants.

4. Additional Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must pass a Child Abuse/Neglect background check, fingerprinting, and criminal background check.
  • Must pass a medical exam, TB test, and drug screening.
  • Must provide three professional references and employment history for the past five years.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and current car insurance.

Requirements for the Job:

1. Hours: Full-time, salaried position, requiring a minimum of 40 hours per week. Weekends and some holidays may be required. Will be scheduled for regular on-call rotation.

2. Must be able to climb stairs, use limbs to lift at least 50 pounds, and provide hands-on assistance with infants, children, and residents as needed.

3. Dress Code: Professional and appropriate attire required, with business attire expected for meetings and community events.
