Mother Seton Parish, a large, multicultural parish in Germantown Maryland is hiring a Director of Children's Faith Formation.
This role will report to the Pastor and is available in July 2025 but can start sooner if needed.
Work collaboratively with the Director of Evangelization and the Faith Formation Assistant and other members of the Pastoral Team to help provide and encounter with Christ to the parish.
- Coordinator of Children’s Faith Formation includes ages Kindergarten through 5th grade, RCIC and special needs
- The responsibility of the coordinator is for the ongoing development, implementation and management of the religious education program, which will include, but is not limited to: academic formation, sacramental preparation for Baptism, Penance and First Eucharist, seasonal liturgical/spiritual formation, catechist recruitment and training and Rite of Christian Initiation for Children.
- Other responsibilities include assisting in the family faith formation program and catechist formation, communicating with families, collaborating and assisting other staff members within the department and parish programs.
- Use media, including our parish website, to reach parish families
- Assist the enrollment process for Children’s Faith Formation, Order the books and supplies
- Recruit catechists, assistant catechists, teen mentors and to help build a sense of community among them
- Coordinate orientation for any new volunteers for example: new catechists and teen mentors.
- Provide clear expectations for all volunteers, catechists, teen mentors, all volunteers and parents which includes but not limited to: the goals for the year, calendar, curriculum and safety requirements and importance of commitment to the program and faith formation.
- Oversee record keeping, such as attendance sheets, health records and rosters
- Be available to the catechists and the children during their sessions
