Position Summary
The barback is responsible for stocking and restocking all bar supplies while maintaining an organized bar area.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Properly sets up the bar stations, prepares and restocks garnishes, as directed by management.
- Responsible for keeping all liquor displays and shelving organized and maintaining par levels.
- Cleaning counters and furniture, cleaning glasses, running food, clearing plates, taking out trash, unclogging sinks, etc.
- Keep the bar and storage area neat and organized.
- Removing and emptying trash along with recycling.
- Ensures bar is well stocked and full, duties may include refilling ice wells, stocks glasses and straws, replenishes liquor bottles, restocks beers, and other beverages.
- Putting away shipments of liquor and beer in designated areas.
- Tracking opening and closing inventory levels.
- Performs side-work and other opening/closing procedures.
- Maintain and ensure the overall cleanliness and safety of work area/assigned station and the establishment.
- All other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for an extended period of time.
- Must be able to exert well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously.
- May be required to lift trays of food or food items weighing up to 30 lbs.
- Must have the ability to bend, squat and lift 40 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis and occasionally lift up to 75 lbs.
- Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs. occasionally.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks.
- Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment, including, but not limited to, cutlery used in the cutting of fruit for garnishes.
Skills/Experience
- Six (6) months previous bar, restaurant, or hotel experience.
- Excellent listener and communicator.
- Ability to focus on guest interaction and multitask.
- Team player and able to anticipate others’ needs.
- Positive attitude.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays when required.
