Role Description
This is a full-time night shift on-site role for a Controls Engineer located in Cottondale, AL. The Controls Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing control systems for manufacturing processes. Daily tasks include troubleshooting and maintaining control systems, ensuring optimal performance of motion control and robotics systems, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance production efficiency.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Engineering Technology required.
- 3 years of experience with an Enterprise Resource Planning system, e.g. SAP, AS400, etc., in a manufacturing/production environment required.
- 7 years of experience designing and implementing controls systems in a manufacturing environment required
- Process Control and Motion Control skills
- Electrical Engineering and Troubleshooting skills
- Experience with Robotics systems
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in an on-site team environment.
- Proficient in computer skills such as Microsoft Office applications, AutoCad layout and drafting
Objective:
- Manages controls related Capital project activities, from conception through start-up, including conceptual design, budgeting, detailed design, specification development, bid negotiations and installation. Manages outside contractors and SMP personnel for controls related project work.
Main Duties:
- Designs PLC, HMI, instrumentation and electrical systems and applications for cost effective plant operations.
- Develop projects to improve plant operation and efficiency
- Advises the Engineering staff of appropriate control and instrumentation standards and philosophy.
- Provides training of plant personnel for controls related systems and technology
