Pump Technician: Power & Pumps

POSITION SUMMARY

The Service Technician repairs and rebuilds customer equipment and maintains quality of service at a high level in support of the company's sales efforts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Inspect, repair, and service customer equipment in the shop or in the field (as needed.)
• Safely drive and operate a company-owned vehicle.
• Ensure proper operation of compressed air equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements and inspections on a wide variety of compressors and blowers.
• Provide assistance and training to Apprentices and Field Service Technicians.
• Serve as technical support for customers.
• Teardown, Inspection, Failure analysis, and repair of pumps, blowers/vacuum boosters, vacuum pumps, vertical turbines, VFD's soft starts, gearboxes, and motors.
• Promote and participate fully in communicating with management and other members of the sales team to encourage the flow of information related to jobs, projects, and quoting activity.
• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Able to read wiring schematics and diagrams for all equipment.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Write routine reports and correspondence.
• Must be able to weld.
• Working knowledge of VFD'S and soft starters is a plus but not required.
• Operate a Forklift, hoist, crane, hand tools, power tools, drills, band saw, drill press, lathe mills, or other equipment deemed necessary to fulfill the job's functions.
• Basic computer skills and internet software knowledge.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 3-5 years related work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical requirements for this position are typical for a medium work warehouse environment including frequent movement about the warehouse/office, climbing, standing, reaching, bending, kneeling, stooping and lifting 50 pounds.
