Founding Engineer / Fullstack / AI

We're currently working with a fully funded start up in the Insurance space seeking to utilize AI to infuse the legal expertise of their in house lawyers with creative Software Engineers to reimagine how they can assist their clients with the most complex insurance polices, claims, and other tasks. This role will be a Founding Engineer, and you would ideally be strong across the board, including Fullstack Development, APIs, AI/ML, and Infrastructure Architecture. This role will by hybrid (2 days/week) in their Chicago, IL, office.

This is a great opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a fully funded, VC backed start up with an interesting perspective on their industry.

Required Skills & Experience

• 10 years of experience working in Fullstack development with proven experience building and deploying web based applications
• Proficiency in Python, but being a software polyglot is ideal
• Solid experience with model training and fine-tuning LLMs, including large-scale datasets and cloud-based platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure).
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure tools (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform) and distributed computing to scale model training and deployment.

Preferred Experience

• BS or higher in Computer Science, or a related field.
• Experience or desire to work in an early stage start up.
