Required Skills & Experience
- 2 years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work or consulting experience, training, military experience, education.
- Skilled Application Software Engineer to work on mainframe software development with a focus on COBOL.
- Knowledge and understanding of application lifecycle, from design, development, testing, to implementation with a strong understanding of High Availability concepts and architecture.
What You Will Be Doing
- Participate in low to moderately complex initiatives and identify opportunity for process improvements within Software Engineering.
- Review and analyze basic or tactical Software Engineering assignments or challenges that require research, evaluation, and selection of alternatives, related to low-to-medium risk deliverables.
- Present recommendations for resolving low to moderately complex situations and exercise some independent judgment while developing understanding of function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
- Provide information to client personnel in Software Engineering.
- Provide the development of posting and settlement application programs that have an impact on the client and customer.
- Provide technical expertise for technical issues, supporting mainframe file processing, Business Continuity Planning exercises and implementation changes.
- Have working expertise in these mainframe technologies: Job Control Language (JCL), DB2 databases, CA7 scheduler, Network Data Mover (NDM), IBM Mainframe Utilities, Virtual Storage Access Method (VSAM), System Display and Search Facility (SDSF), Custom Information Control System (CICS), and IBM SPUFI, RACF Security.
