Required Skills & Experience
- Strong SQL developer experience with the ability to write, debug, and optimize complex queries.
- Comfortable reading legacy code and identifying where processes can be improved.
- Familiar with JIRA or other Agile tools for documentation and project planning.
- Not looking for a pure developer, technical skills to support business outcomes and infrastructure integration.
- Willingness to be initiative, map out processes to identify redundancies, and thrive in collaborative environments.
- Experience working in financial services or banking (capital markets, derivatives preferred).
- Prior experience working in counterparty or market risk.
- Familiarity with financial risk reporting regulations.
- Previous experience within a large financial institution.
What You Will Be Doing
- Evaluating and optimizing manual tools and risk reporting processes related to capital markets, particularly derivatives.
- Help translate business workflows into scalable, tech-aligned solutions - identifying. opportunities to embed existing tools into the broader enterprise infrastructure.
- Regularly update and curate the knowledge base to ensure relevance and accuracy.
- Analyze and interpret complex, existing SQL procedures and user-developed tools.
- Reverse-engineer and document current workflows.
- Break down manual tools into JIRA stories and help drive backlog creation.
- Serve as a technical liaison between risk SMEs and the development team.
- Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency as reporting tools transition into long-term infrastructure.
- Support efforts to "productionalize" internal desktop-based tools.
- Assist in maintaining and improving risk reporting processes, especially in capital markets (bonds, derivatives, pricing).
