A major airline in the DFW area is looking to hire a FinOps Cloud Engineer on a contract to hire basis. In this position you’ll have the opportunity to leverage the latest technology to solve business problems in a collaborative environment at this Fortune 500 transportation giant.
In this position you will be responsible for FinOps optimization, it is a non-technical position that you’ll purely focus on operations and cost optimization for the business. You will be part of the Hosting and Cloud Management team working directly with teams on cloud optimization driving change to create efficiency and savings. They are ideally looking for candidates having a strong foundation within Azure and/or AWS and an infrastructure background with a focus on cost optimizations, in addition to working in the FinOps space.
Contract Duration: 6-9 month contract to hire with a hybrid schedule in Fort Worth (just south of the DFW airport), onsite 3 days per week Tuesday-Thursday.

Required Skills & Experience
- 5-7 years of work experience in infrastructure engineering
- Azure (preferred) or AWS cloud experience working through the lens of cost optimization
- FinOps experience
- Keeping up with industry trends in security technology
- A critical eye for correct code - Python is ideal but not required or PowerShell - need solid understanding on automations for efficiency but won't be doing the actual coding
- Strong Hands-On with automation concepts
- Certification in FinOps is a big plus
Daily Responsibilities
- Working with teams around dependency on application and usage and optimizing with each team.
- Main focuses will be around: Storage, Computing, App services, and Networking
- This role is Fin Ops Cloud optimization, an operational role (not technical)
- Focused on cost optimization - which services are spending the most money and where savings can be identified often through automation
- Azure is primary but AWS is also a big plus
- Cloud Platform Innovation & Cost Optimization – Azure, AWS, IBM
- Billing - course management and advertised cost
- Commitment in Azure - customize what parts are utilized (Azure VM, App Services, Azure Advisors, Kubernetes cluster)
- Understating Sys Benchmarks and how they impact cloud services
- Using Defender is used in cloud optimization mainly for?security posture management and threat protection.
