What are the responsibilities and job description for the Systems Administrator position at Motion Recruitment?
As a Systems Administrator, you’ll work closely with both the engineering and operations teams to lead and coordinate all computer and IT-related activities across the company. You’ll take ownership of the full lifecycle of corporate assets, ensuring the smooth operation of our custom company-wide Linux environment and its integration with internal tools and infrastructure. You will also be the go-to person for IT troubleshooting and support across the organization.

What You Will Be Doing
- Configure and deploy NixOS (both desktop and laptop systems).
- Add automated regression tests within virtual machines to validate system setups.
- Refactor and improve our custom NixOS module to make it easier for engineers to extend with their own configurations.
- Enhance internal documentation to empower team members to manage their own system configurations more independently.
- Diagnose and resolve a variety of Linux desktop issues (e.g., GPU/driver problems, ZFS pool failures, system overheating).
- Manage and maintain our build server.
- Track and manage all company-owned IT assets—both in-office and remote (e.g., laptops, desktops, peripherals).
- Procure hardware for new hires and ongoing office needs.
- Own and maintain the in-office "Zoom Rooms" conferencing setup, including troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Coordinate with specialized contractors for office networking support.
