Senior Director of Operations

In this role, there will be regular interaction with cross-functional teams, executive leadership, customers, and regulatory agencies. This position requires strong leadership and people skills, the ability to problem-solve, proactively identify issues, and develop and communicate action plans.

WHAT YOU'LL DO :

• Manage a large operations team of 100 employees, including responsibility for overall budget, asset management, prioritization, team structure, and development.
• Drive an excellent safety culture by leading safe and efficient operations.
• Serve as the key interface with stakeholders and lead cross-functional programs to achieve strategic goals, enhance operational efficiencies, establish processes, and develop key supporting assets.
• Identify areas for operational improvement, lead efforts to streamline processes, manage key projects, and facilitate communication and collaboration across the organization.
• Act as an extension of the VP of Operations when designated and serve as a mentor to junior members of the leadership team, potentially managing direct reports.
• Manage processes and workflows to ensure consistent and quality operations, including the development and advancement of internal training programs.
• Work with development and program management teams to plan, staff, and budget for projects and contracts.
• Provide constructive and collaborative feedback and input into program scoping efforts, product roadmaps, technical design efforts, etc.
• Build a culture of partnership, ownership, trust, and support across programs, engineering, and operations.
• Conduct routine and on-demand headcount planning exercises and coordinate with HR / TA on staffing processes.
• Plan support infrastructure, including the overall facilities footprint and support equipment.
• Review work streams and processes to identify operational needs and inefficiencies, and develop and implement necessary improvements.
• Define KPIs and other methods to measure metrics that best translate progress toward goals.
• Understand or strive to learn the technical concepts, architecture, and systems development methods associated with the Motional Engineering team.
• Ensure daily operational processes are conducted as expected, including but not limited to assignments, start-of-shift egress, out-of-office management, pre-briefs, and debriefs.
• Respond to service problems, including rerouting, accidents, and incidents, with the goal of restoring interrupted service and testing; support drivers in preparing accident reports, including post-accident drug and alcohol testing per policy.
• Investigate and respond to unsafe location / situation reports; make recommendations and / or changes to resolve unsafe situations.

Working Environment The incumbent typically works in an office environment and uses a computer, telephone, and other office equipment as needed to perform duties. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office. Incumbents may encounter frequent interruptions throughout the workday. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, road conditions, and pedestrian traffic. The team member is regularly exposed to mechanical and computer parts. The team member is occasionally exposed to fumes and / or airborne particles.
