Position Overview:
The Analyzer Specialist supports the Projects, Turnaround, and Construction organizations at the Port Arthur Manufacturing Complex. This role provides technical assurance during all phases of Analyzers and Gas Detection Systems projects. The Analyzer Specialist serves as the technical contact with field supervision, operations, and maintenance on technical matters related to instrumentation up through facility startup.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure design work by contractors is in accordance with Motiva design standards, applicable codes/regulations, and acceptable work practices.
- Ensure that all analyzers and their interface with control system supplied by OEMs meet design specifications.
- Conduct Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) according to the complexity of the new installation.
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) when required.
- Participate in project lessons review and incorporate learnings into design and installation details.
- Develop, document, and implement the Quality Assurance process for construction.
- Review/approve analyzer packages prior to being issued for construction as required.
- Consult with contractors during the construction phase to ensure reliable installation of new facilities.
Experience and Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent education
- 10 years of analyzer/instrumentation experience
- Extensive knowledge of pneumatic, analog, analytical, and digital instrumentation
- Ability to interpret and develop design and construction documentation for analytical and related equipment
- Knowledge of analyzer and related Engineering Practices and other applicable codes and regulations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical communication
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Associate’s degree or higher education in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Analytical Systems
- 2 years of analyzer project analytical specification and design experience
Physical Requirements:
- Physical ability to work around and on industrial equipment, including climbing of stairs and ladders
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas (respirator, hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, heeled boots, and hearing protection)
