The Service Lot Tech is responsible for assisting technicians with an efficient process while ensuring consistent service quality. A Lot Tech is essential to maintaining a well-organized dealership, while supporting the service team. Ideal candidates are hardworking, passionate about powersports equipment, and take pride in creating an outstanding first impression for customers.
Key Responsibilities:
Staging and Preparations
- Identify any open service bay that may need units staged.
- Request approval from technician to stage unit to ensure the area has not been reserved for other purposes.
- Reference “lineup board” to identify the next major unit to be worked by technician.
- Review the repair order to identify the extent of jobs that have been requested by the customer.
- Begin courtesy inspection (detailed below) prior to staging a unit as to not produce exhaust fumes in the shop.
- Stage major unit on lift or in bay.
- Stage any and all parts with a unit including the RO.
- Ensure all tasks are properly completed with a technician.
- Mount and install tires and wheels when needed.
- Maintain organization in parts staging area.
Courtesy Inspections
- Perform courtesy inspection on all major units checked into service.
- Note any irregularities before the technician begins work.
Quality Control
- Review repair order to verify completion of requested jobs.
- Complete quality control check on all completed major units
- Unit Appearance
- Clean each completed unit using wash-and-wax spray and microfiber towel.
- Ensure each unit is cleaner than when it arrived.
- Pay special attention to all areas that a customer will see while operating the unit.
- Any other duties as assigned by the manager.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working at a powersports dealership.
- Strong knowledge of powersports vehicles, parts, and accessories.
- Familiarity with the Lightspeed computer system or similar inventory management software preferred
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and leadership abilities.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
- Must be able to lift a minimum weight of 50 LBS.
- Must be a team player.
Requirements:
- Current valid driver’s license.
- Clean driving record, no blemishes.
- Experience driving both manual and automatic vehicles.
