Job Summary:

As Assistant Plant Manager reporting directly to the Plant Manager, you’ll be responsible for overseeing and improving all plant operations, including production, quality, maintenance, and safety. You will be a key contributor to developing and executing operational strategies, ensuring that production targets are met while upholding high standards of safety and quality.  Job Responsibilities:

  • Safety and Compliance: Collaborate with Facilities, Maintenance, and EHS departments to maintain a safe and compliant work environment, ensuring all safety protocols are adhered to. Investigate and sustain corrective actions for any OSHA recordables and near-miss incidents.
  • Production and Quality Management: Develop and maintain production schedules, ensuring adherence to timelines while meeting quality standards. Work closely with supervisors, operators, and engineers to address internal quality issues and continuously improve processes.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Foster a collaborative, team-oriented culture. Mentor and guide supervisors and staff, ensuring continuous development and alignment with plant goals. Encourage lean practices and operational improvements.
  • On-Time Delivery and Customer Satisfaction: Ensure on-time delivery to internal and external customers by effectively coordinating with production control, purchasing, and planning teams. Monitor daily productivity and implement corrective actions to improve performance as needed.
  • Inventory and Resource Management: Collaborate with the purchasing and planning teams to manage inventory levels and ensure resource availability aligns with production demands.
  • Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing: Lead and support Lean Improvement initiatives across the plant to optimize production processes, reduce waste, and enhance overall operational efficiency.
  • Plant Launch and New Initiatives: Take ownership of successful plant launches, ensuring all necessary systems, equipment, and tracking programs are in place. Ensure plant launch goals are met and support the transition from launch to full-scale production.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work across departments to establish and manage workflows that meet production demands and enhance plant performance. Act as a liaison between production, engineering, and other departments to ensure alignment with operational goals.
  • P&L Management and Data-Driven Insights: Take ownership of the P&L for the plant, utilizing data analytics to drive cost efficiencies, optimize resource allocation, and enhance profitability. Provide actionable insights to leadership through detailed financial analysis, helping guide decisions to improve overall plant performance and meet business unit financial objectives

 Minimum Required Skills / Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7 years of experience in a manufacturing management leadership role, with at least 5 years in operations functions.
  • Strong background in production management, quality control, and maintenance.
  • Solid understanding of Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement practices.
  • Experience in driving cross-functional collaboration and managing resources to meet production goals.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong communication and team leadership skills.

Preferred Skills /Experience:

  • Six Sigma Certification (Green Belt or Black Belt) or similar continuous improvement certification.
  • Experience in the Fiber manufacturing or automotive industry is a plus.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple teams and drive operational excellence across plant functions.
