The EHS Director will lead safety initiatives, create a behavioral-based safety environment, and ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations across the organization. This role will oversee the Spartanburg, SC site while traveling up to 50% of the time to the other 9 facilities to standardize and transform EHS practices. Additionally, this person will have a Safety Coordinator at the Spartanburg plant reporting to them, who will assist in coordinating and executing activities when the EHS Director travels.
Responsibilities :
- Oversee and manage EHS operations at Spartanburg, SC, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Travel to 9 facilities (U.S. and Mexico) to support EHS management, share best practices, and ensure compliance.
- Develop and sustain safety systems and practices across all sites, improving Total Incident Rate (TIR).
- Verify compliance with federal, state, and local OSHA regulations and worker's compensation requirements through local EHS managers.
- Lead the research and development of safety systems and new technologies.
- Coordinate safety training, accident investigations, and emergency response programs across all sites.
- Conduct safety audits, Lock-out Tag-out (LOTO) reviews, and Job Safety Analysis (JSA).
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, including stormwater and SPCC plans, and maintain ISO 14001 : 2015 certification.
- Apply corrective actions when discrepancies are detected and perform root cause analysis on incidents.
- Oversee and guide the Safety Coordinator at the Spartanburg plant, ensuring effective execution of safety activities in their absence.
