The District's Water Efficiency Department is responsible for the implementation of demand management programs to help customers be more efficient in their use of water. The Water Efficiency Intern will report directly to the Senior Water Efficiency Specialist and work alongside the entire Water Efficiency Team. This internship will provide the applicant the opportunity to apply knowledge acquired in the classroom to real-world situations and perform daily water efficiency tasks and activities.
Additionally, the chosen applicant will learn about current and emerging water efficiency policies, regulatory compliance measures, and support the District's Communications Department to learn valuable skills such as creating impactful educational or social media content.
The Intern may also assist in the execution of the District's demand management programs by performing such tasks as measuring and mapping landscapes, conducting residential home savings surveys, and supporting water efficiency educational events.
We are searching for a junior or senior level undergraduate student, or a graduate student, attending an accredited college in good standing with a study emphasis in Environmental Studies, Environmental Engineering, Urban and Regional Planning, Public Policy, Education, or a closely related field. The intern must have the ability to work effectively in a team environment and have comprehensive computer skills.
The Water Efficiency Intern position is a part-time position. The Intern will be expected to work up to 20-25 hours a week between the workdays of Monday - Thursday. This position is authorized work a maximum of 960 hours per fiscal year (July 1 to June 30) and no more than 130 hours in any given month. The chosen applicant will be expected to start employment no later than mid-June. There is potential to continue the internship into the Fall semester depending upon District needs and the student's availability.
