Facilities Manager
Mounds Park Academy is a PreK-12 independent school in Saint Paul, MN that serves approximately 575 students from throughout the Twin Cities area. Since 1982, Mounds Park Academy has engaged students in a rigorous college preparatory experience that is demanding, but not draining, and goes far beyond memorization. Mounds Park Academy seeks an individual that would enjoy an inclusive school setting in which they will interact with a large number of people: parents, faculty, staff, and students. The full-time Facilities Manager is responsible for planning and overseeing all building maintenance, repair and cleaning, while maintaining a high standard of safety, cleanliness and efficiency. This role has frequent contact with faculty and staff. This position reports to the Mounds Park Academy Chief Financial and Operations Officer.
Responsibilities include:
- Plan and oversee all maintenance, repair and cleaning.
- Prepare and maintain a balanced budget.
- Plan for future projects, schedules and ways to improve the facility.
- Arrange bids and develop specifications for capital improvements by outside contractors.
- Develop, maintain and report compliance with environmental, health and maintenance standards in keeping with all regional, state and federal regulations and laws that pertain to the facility.
- Perform repairs to building, mechanicals, furniture and custodial equipment.
- Supervise and develop custodial and grounds employees.
- Oversee the work of outside contractors to ensure compliance with contractual agreements and budgetary restrictions.
- Responsible for the operation of the building security system including the building access alarm, fob access system and fire alarm.
- Responsible for the operation of the building energy management systems.
- Participate in the school safety committee, the buildings committee and other committees as assigned.
- Support and facilitate the initiatives of the MPA strategic plan and positively contribute to school-wide committee work.
- Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as requested by the Head of School as deemed necessary for safe and efficient operation of the school in order to fulfill the mission of Mounds Park Academy.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Two-year degree in related field or 5 years relevant work experience.
- Very strong technical skills, including proficiency with phone systems, Microsoft Office, and general ledger software packages.
Qualifications/Skills:
- High school diploma.
- Five to ten years of experience in the same or related field.
- Supervisory experience.
- Strong trouble shooting and repair skills.
- Self-motivated, willing to learn, and highly-organized with a very keen attention to detail.
- General experience in HVAC, carpentry, electrical, plumbing and facility cleaning.

- Exceptional interpersonal communication and customer service skills that are consistently applied to members of the MPA community.
- Exceptional project management skills including the ability to think independently and critically, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, stressful environment.
Preferred:
- Two to four-year degree a plus.
- Ten or more years of experience in a school.
- Class C boiler license and/or HVAC experience.
This is a year-round position with a generous benefits package including tuition remission for qualified children and half day Friday’s during the summer. Occasional nights/weekends may be necessary.
