What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bilingual Dairy Laboratory Technician position at Moundview Dairy?
Position Summary
The Dairy Lab Technician is responsible for accurately performing analytical and bacteriological testing on raw material, in-process material, and finished product in accordance with company policies and procedures. Must be able to follow SOPs, written instructions, and procedures precisely. Must be able to learn to operate all laboratory testing equipment, instruments, and Microsoft Office. This is a fast-paced environment where the ability to effectively communicate in both English and Spanish is a strong requirement of this position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Demonstrate and promote the vision and goals of Moundview Dairy
- Regular attendance and punctuality
- Apply GMP/GLP in all areas of responsibility
- Report non-conformances to Management
- Compile and maintain accurate inspection reports and records
- Basic maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment
- Analyze facts or circumstances surrounding individual problems to offer suggestions of what action should be taken within the limits of standard practices
- Investigate and determine cause of non-conformances and consult production supervisors as to corrective measures
- Help cover lab staff during vacations and absences
- Maintain a clean and safe laboratory work environment
- Conduct all activities in a safe and efficient manner
- Performing other duties as requested, directed, or assigned
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Must be able to communicate in English and Spanish
- Previous work in a dairy laboratory, analytical laboratory, or manufacturing industry a plus, but not required
- Must be able to learn to operate all laboratory testing equipment /instruments: FoodScan, Chloride Analyzer, pH meter, etc.
- Basic understanding of microbiological testing
- Must have a basic understanding of Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Office
Physical Requirements for production positions regularly include:
- Frequent movement including walking, standing, bending/stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms, lifting, climbing and other active movements
- Performing duties while wearing personal protective equipment
- Working across temperature zones that may include cold and/or hot environments for extended periods and may include work in environments where dust is present
- Shift schedules that include days, nights, and possible weekends, some holidays and periodic overtime
- Ability to climb heights
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
