Position: Cherry Night Shift Line 1 – Cherry Packing Labor
Department: Cherry Packing – Dallesport, WA
Location: 111 S Parallel Ave, Dallesport, WA 98617
Direct Supervisor: Cherry Productions Supervisor / Line Leads
Schedule: Monday – Sunday; 5:30pm – Close
Compensation: Training Wage - $16.66/hr; Base Wage - $16.91/hr
Other Compensation: Bonus for Attendance
Position Status: Temporary/Seasonal
Position Summary:
As a Cherry Packing worker you will work in our Cherry facility located in Dallesport, WA. Packing will start in late May or early June and is dependent on Cherry Harvest. The Cherry season lasts on average 8 weeks. Night shift will start packing at 5:30pm each night of the week and packing will continue until the end of the run for the day. Cherry Packing workers may work up to 10 hours per shift, especially during the peak of the packing season. As a Cherry Packing worker you will be responsible labor process in the packaging of cherries. We will be looking to setup orientations with those that are hired as the season approaches
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Monitor the master container, (loose fill box and the fruit going into the container) for any foreign material, designated packing aids, (liner/soaker pads) proper box filling and appropriate weight specifications, and the proper folding, wrapping &/or tucking of the liners as directed.
Installing the appropriate lid (as directed by line monitors and supervisors) on the box with the correct label facing in the proper direction.
Affixing the prescribed carton label on the box in the correct orientation so the scanning/reading systems can correctly detect, read, interpret and direct &/or account for the cartons as necessary.
Packers will be moved around and asked to perform different packing duties as fruit volume, packing types and personnel shortages dictates.
Ensuring proper placement of fruit container poly-liner and soaker pad into each empty carton bottom in a neat and concise manner.
Responsible for loading empty cherry bags onto the empty filling templates in as rapid and efficient manner possible.
May be required to change positions as needed rotating to fillers, shakers and tuckers & lidders.
Adhere to good manufacturing practices, personal and work area hygiene & food safety standards and requirements.
Work diligently and cautiously to ensure proper handling and packing of the products and maintain production rate.
Work as a team with coworkers and follow routine rotations as directed.
Follow all Plant Safety requirements and adhere to the Company Handbook.
Other Duties as assigned.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
Must be able to work inside a packing facility
Work in moderate to cool temperatures
Stand on feet for long periods of time (Up to three hours at a time)
Use of one or both hands to complete tasks
Must have good hand dexterity
Visual acuity and reading of labels
Experience/Education:
Production or packing experience preferred
HS Diploma/GED preferred
Bilingual Spanish/English preferred
