Job Summary:
The Pool Attendant is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the appearance of pool area and to enhance environment for creating an excellent time and ensuring safety of all guests. All duties are to be performed within the guidelines of the Mount Airy Casino Resort’s policies and procedures, Internal Control Standards and objectives.
Qualifications
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Provides courteous service to all guests.
- Watches the pool closely from all sightlines and ensures the safety of our guests at all times.
- Maintains the pool deck so it is clean and slip resistant.
- Remains visible to pool guests at all times.
- Cleans all areas, including sweeping, picking up trash and wiping all tables.
- Maintains full awareness of surroundings of indoor, outdoor pool and all deck areas.
- Maintains all furniture, towels & visible trash at all times, changing/emptying ash trays and garbage cans regularly.
- Cleans and restocks restrooms.
- Remove all debris from planters.
- Retrieve used cups and plate ware and return to kitchen area.
- Assists with packaging and delivering all “to go” orders when necessary.
- Transports food from the kitchen to the guest’s seating, when necessary, with accuracy and in a timely manner.
- Follows all safety and health and safety standards set forth by Mount Airy Casino Resort at all times.
- Adhere to set schedules and attendance to mandatory staff meetings.
- Knowledge and adherence to staff privileges and responsibilities.
- Adherence to uniform requirements.
- Must be flexible to work a variety of shifts.
- Maintain professionalism in both appearance and behavior at all times.
- Maintain a professional work environment with supervisors and staff. Must be teamwork oriented.
- Maintain the server’s station in a neat, clean and sanitary condition at all times.
- Be knowledgeable of casino promotions and events in order to provide answers to customer questions.
- Meet the attendance guidelines of the job and adhere to regulatory, departmental and company policies.
- Attends all training sessions and meetings and remains prepared to practice acquired skills.
- Must be able to complete work assignments with little direct supervision.
Additional Duties:
- Requires reaching, lifting, stooping, bending and cleaning to maintain service areas.
- Walks and stands during the entire shift.
- Effectively communicates verbally with staff, while reading, speaking and fully understanding English.
- Must make a positive impression on the guest.
- Maintains proper safety and sanitation standards.
- Key in food and beverage orders at service areas. Responsible for cash handling. Place drink orders at Service Bar which requires effective communication skills.
- Stand and move throughout the pool area as required during an assigned shift in an efficient, expedient manner, regardless of extremes in temperature and other adverse conditions.
- Maintains the physical stamina and proper mental attitude to perform under pressure and deal with emergency situations.
- Assess a situation and performs rescue skills in accordance with the American Red Cross guidelines.
- Must be able to lift lounge chairs and move towel carts during an assigned shift.
Qualifications/Requirements:

- Must have outgoing, friendly personality and a cheerful accommodating disposition.
Education/Experience:
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age or older upon employment
- High school diploma or its equivalency required.
- Previous customer service experience preferred.
- Lifeguard, CPR for the professional Rescuer and First Aid Training highly preferred.
- Must possess excellent customer service skills.
- Previous lifeguard experience preferred.
- Must present a well-groomed appearance.
- Ability to communicate effectively with guests and team members.
- Must be teamwork oriented.
Language Skills and Reasoning Ability:
- Must possess excellent communication skills.
- Ability to write routine correspondence and to speak effectively to the public, employees and customers.
- Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with the customers and employees.
- Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.

When on the casino floor, the noise levels increase to loud. Must be able to work in an environment where smoking is permitted.
- Must be able to stand, walk and move through small area’s of bar and lounge areas.
- Maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure in a fast-paced, casino environment and effectively deal with customers, management, employees, and members of the business community in all situations.
Other:
- Must be able to be approved for and maintain a valid non-gaming license.
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. Must be able to respond to visual and oral cues.
- Work nights, weekends and holidays as required.
- Employment is contingent upon a favorable outcome of a background investigation and drug screening.
