Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Experienced Veterinary Technician or Assistant to support our veterinarians and nurses in providing exceptional care. The ideal candidate has a minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in a veterinary hospital, strong technical skills, and a deep commitment to patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians during exams and procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Safely restrain animals for exams, treatments, and diagnostics.
- Prepare animals for surgery and administer pre-operative medications as directed.
- Place IV catheters and collect blood samples using proper handling techniques.
- Monitor and record vital signs, medical history, and treatment plans accurately.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Operate in-house diagnostic equipment, including X-rays and laboratory machines.
- Perform dental prophylaxis and assist with radiology procedures.
- Educate pet owners on proper pet care and health maintenance.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a veterinary hospital, providing direct patient care.
- Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and basic medical procedures.
- Proficiency in animal handling, catheter placement, radiology, and dental prophy preferred.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining accuracy and compassion.
- Strong communication skills for effective teamwork and client education.
- Must be able to safely lift and handle animals.
- Willingness to become Fear Free Certified (clinic-sponsored certification available).
